Sankofa is our exciting new digital storytelling project in collaboration with Cumbria DEC, SOSNA from Slovakia, and SEVER from the Czech Republic. Over the course of two years, we will be working with schools across our three countries to combine traditional storytelling techniques with digital technologies to explore local to global themes.
Working with schools, the partners are giving pupils the opportunity to gain skills in both storytelling and online recording, editing and sharing across national borders. Participants are developing their own language and digital skills, as well as their global awareness.
JANUARY 2019 | We headed to SEVER in Horní Maršov, for a week. We met our partners from Slovenia and Czech Republic.
We shared skills, learned all things storytelling and had the opportunity to find out more about the history of the area.
In this project that ‘looks back to move forward’, we are developing and delivering resources and training for teachers to give children the opportunity to gain skills in both storytelling and online recording, editing and sharing across national borders.
MARCH 2019 | We had the opportunity to visit our partners at CDEC.
We shared out work and discussed the next steps of the project, including our resource for teachers to help students learn how to develop storytelling skills as a method of creating change.
Teachers are also developing their skills to prepare children to think critically about local to global themes. All participants are developing their own language and digital skills, as well as their global awareness.
